The UP Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies (UP FAMNIT) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to work on the research project “Linear codes through special classes of functions – relationship and design”, led by Prof. Dr. Enes Pasalic and funded by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS).

Project description

The project aims to explore and strengthen the theoretical and practical relationships between special classes of functions — such as bent, plateaued, and almost perfect nonlinear (APN) functions — and the design of linear codes with prescribed properties useful for cryptography, including minimal, self-orthogonal, LCD and optimal codes.

The research focuses on:

  • Studying algebraic and combinatorial links between Boolean/vectorial functions and linear codes;
  • Constructing new families of linear codes derived from known or newly designed functions;
  • Analysing code parameters, weight distributions, and dual structures;
  • Applying computational algebra tools (Magma, SageMath, GAP) for verification and experimentation;
  • Investigating broader connections with different combinatorial objects.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the research team, contribute to joint publications and conference presentations, and participate in the vibrant international research environment at UP FAMNIT.

  • Duration: 1 year
  • Starting date: by April 2026 at the latest
  • Host: UP FAMNIT, University of Primorska, Slovenia
